Evergreen

On one side of the path, an early red maple glowing among the greens. On the other, facing the inlet and boat launches, peachy sky through the trees. And one cluster of trees with that classic sound of late summer: katydid song. I had to look a few moments to find the singers.

Need acidic soil to fruit well, so you wont manage on chalk. I mulch mine with pine needles and evergreen hedgeclippings (and i butcher the bay tree every year and use the leaves) which helps. And I add a BIT of vinegar to watering sometimes.

Oh yeah, it’s massive container ships. Maersk, Evergreen etc. I used to run export ops for Frito, we send these containers loaded with junk food but can only bid on empty units that have been emptied stateside. It’s not like they unload then fill it for the return trip, too bad.
