Good morning to everyone who wishes their bike lanes had as much protection from errant drivers as these downspouts.

The side of a one story building, next to an alley. There are three or four downspouts, each protected by a steel bollard. There is also a spatial separation consisting of a curb and a few feet of gravel, which the bollards are in.

We don't have a true free market now when it comes to car tech. Is that what you are getting at? Also, setting aside the "spyware" aspect and talking about speed warnings or even management (which can be done w/o tracking), should public safety on public streets be something people can opt out of?

one reason that I find left/liberal NIMBYism so distasteful is that it creates false housing scarcity in a way that serves a far-right xenophobic agenda. NIMBY ideology must be fully excised from the Democratic Party before it’s too late

What about all the data that currently goes back to the car companies that we have no control over and no way of knowing anything about? I'm not arguing for "government mandated spyware", but we should talk about the existing data collection, too.

Had a delightful morning ride despite the light drizzle. Figured I needed to break in the new bike no matter what.

Rolling fields and trees in various autumnal hues of green, yellow, and orange.

No idea about Ireland, but in Europe the transit systems generally rely more on fares than in the United States. (Ireland could be an exception, Dublin is high up there on the list of largest cities in the non-US first world without a metro system.)
