The films include full-length features seen at theaters and drive-ins, short films watched at home and in school, and every movie from every genre in between, as originally seen on network television, UHF, PBS, basic cable, subscription cable, and VHS. 2/

Thank you. I used a 1950s studio lighting rig leftover from one of Douglas Sirk’s films. (Joking. The sun just happened to be in the right place at the right time to overcompensate for my general incompetence.)

Six years ago today I started “25 Years at 24 Frames" ( #25Y24F ), a project to reconstruct the approximate chronological movie-watching timeline of the first 25 years of my life (1968-1993), relive those films through re-watches, and reflect on how those experiences shaped me. 1/

Yeah Liam can’t help himself. That probably why he lost his badge in 90% of his films. LiamNissanTM is just as bad.

"It's just dumb action, enjoy it for what it is" — 1) wrong, and 2) no. The Fast and Furious films are dumb action. Vin Diesel is there to do cool scenes, deliver lines, have fun and make money. He's not ultimately and continually about hurting people.

i won't be in chicago on thursday (10/3) but if you will be, two of my favorite films are playing on different sides of town: Nowhere (1997, Gregg Araki) on DCP (i'm assuming the exciting new one) at Doc Films Trouble Every Day (2001, Claire Denis) on 35mm(!) at @musicboxtheatre.bsky.social 📽️

RIP KK. If you want to watch one of his films, might I suggest “Cisco Pike.” Kristofferson plays a washed up rock star, drug dealer who ambles around a 1972 LA. It also stars Gene Hackman as a crooked cop. Underrated and awesome.

It's never been true; change is the only constant on a tectonic earth. What amazes me is that everybody knows there was an ice age but, doesn't twig that the climate changed. They watch Dickens victorian films about ice fairs on the Thames & still don't get it; nowt as queer as folk ;-)
