Eh, well, nobody talked about the Holocaust (nor did it have a name) for about 15 years, until the Eichmann trial. And it took another 15 years or more after that for anyone besides historians to pay detailed attention. And only after that did it become a topic for public remembrance.
I suspect that Iggers influenced other emigré historians like Fritz Stern, who wrote a chapter on Ranke (mainly on documentary evidence) in his Varieties of History. Also, check out his foreword to a book on German scholars and ethnic cleansing (when idealism or theology clashes with reality).
Future historians will cringe in embarrassment when retelling this period of our society. They'll be like "how tf did we give this much power to so many morons?"
imo the attempt to claim Ancient Egypt as an example of black greatness while ignoring great sub-Saharan empires like Ghana or Mali is kinda weird It feels like ppl wanna claim Egypt bc it's the only African empire acknowledged as great by Eurocentric historians, but that centers white people still
