Iā€™ve seen a couple of posts like this, & Iā€™m getting pretty tired of people comparing Megalopolis šŸ“½ļøā€™s B.O. performance to Indian Cinema to show how ā€œbadā€ itā€™s doing. Not cool, yo! Hate to break it to some folks, but Indian movies have been a thing in U.S. cinemas for a while now. Whereā€™ve you been?

I need to get around to these. I watched Bombay Railway when they repeated that last year, and grabbed Indian Hill Railways and Monsoon Railway before they went off iPlayer.

The absolute pinnacle of comfort TV for me is a 2010 documentary series called Indian Hill Railways. The whole thing is on YouTube. Iā€™m watching right now. youtu.be/FpoQO9ggzC4

Okay, I'm curious why you think that is? Also a big fan of #1 & 5. Trivia time- Bobby McF took that phrase from 20th century Godman & Indian mystic Meher Baba

One of the theaters near me has specialized in Indian cinema for years, so it's fascinating to see that start to broaden out post-RRR, so that, say, FIGHTER gets a big wide-release week-one push.

One of the better-performing new releases is an Indian-language film! It's like last year when films like Godzilla Minus One and The Boy and the Heron were scoring great specialty numbers in early December because everybody who wanted to see Wish and Napoleon was used up after Thanskgiving.

The true beloved Indian institution of Freemans Bay is the dairy closing bc of the owners' health, such a wonderful extended family loved by the whole community & stalwarts of the Ponsonby mosque. So nice that they never even say anything bad about the Rupas, they just give you that 'look', lol

My grandparents lived in a small town in west wales, and I remember my mum telling me that in the 60s my granddad went out for a curry in the newly opened Indian restaurant there (the first ever) and she kept him home sick the next day cause she was so worried by the smell of garlic.

If youā€™re familiar with living Jazz greats like Joe Lastie, Steve Gadd, or John Patitucci, and you happen to like Jazz piano with Indian elements, I recommend Charu Suri. Her music is on around here often. And now that I have good speakers, sheā€™ll be on even more. music.apple.com/us/album/rag...
