Hearing about baby monk seals born early in the season in Hawaii (pups can be born any time of year, but typically between May and September) reminds me of when my wife and I got to show her parents this March baby on the Big Island. #MonkSealMonday 📸📷🦭🦊

Happy #MonkSealMonday with our little green goblin, Holokai. A Halloween tradition to share this photo of him just over a year old before his very first molt, as green as green can be and almost looks like he’s wearing a mask. 📷📸🦭🦑🦊

Kahuluokalae (#MonkSealRJ16), stuck on a piece of reef protruding from the shallows, with all four limbs in the water, leaving him “pancaked” on the spot for a few minutes.

Monk seal pup season is upon us… did a four-hour volunteer shift with PO5 yesterday (cannot share images for another few weeks, per volunteer policy). Here is one of our 2021 pups, Loli’i. #MonkSealMonday comes to Bluesky!
