Euchromius ocellea, to light at Biggleswade, Bedfordshire on 28/9. #migrantmothuk#teammoth#mothsmatter
Looking ahead to next Friday and Saturday (4-5/10), mild air from Iberia makes a return. Western areas best placed to see any activity on Friday night (although fairly breezy). Saturday night looks by far the better night, especially again in the west. #migrantmothuk#teammoth#mothsmatter
Plausible Phyllonorycter spinicolella mine with multiple creases on Prunus. There's a similar image on the West Midlands Moths website, but I've retained it to breed through. #MothsMatter#TeamMoth
Parornix finitimella (top) and P. torquillella (bottom) larvae on Prunus I reckon, believed new to SJ94 (Park Hall CP on 28 Sep 24) and SK04 (Cheadle on 29 Sep 24) respectively (VC39). #MothsMatter#TeamMoth
SCARCE ARCHES (Fabula zollikoferi), to light in Weymouth, Dorset on 28/9. D. Foot. The first British record for 28 years (17 British records, the latest being 15/8/39 (W. Yorks), 13/9/68 (Angus) and 2/9/96 (W. Sussex)). #migrantmothuk#teammoth#mothsmatter
Very few moths in the (Portland) traps last night but some quality migrants, 2 Scarce Bordered Straw and a Small Mottled Willow #mothsmatter
Cheadle Towers (VC39/SK04) overnight 28 September. The Black Rustic (A. nigra) is new for the garden, so it's not all bad. Leaf mines from nearby Park Hall CP (SJ94) included Phyllonorycter nicellii and Parornix torquillella (larva checked and new 10km). #MothsMatter#TeamMoth
A Hummingbird Hawk-moth out and about in the sunshine. Pensthorpe. #moths#MothsMatter#TeamMoth#ento#UKwildlife
