I am kind of endeared by modern fans of stoicism and Marcus Aurelius because the philosophy is largely contingent on an exotic cosmology with an ethereal realm of fire and rigid fatalism, but all anyone takes away from it is "The strongest men can go to a restaurant alone and not feel weird."
