I support Sankofa books because they support me & that's the bottom line. I'm an author they value. They hosted my novel launch & let me show up to their place for smoothies & proudly sell my book & support me. Some bookstores are just snobbier & less accepting, or we have a different relationship.
the western classics get dragged for filth in my art & writing: zeus, circe, shakespeare, all'a em. i even had a poem titled "let's kill merwin" (sidenote: i love merwin, as and enjoy greek mythology; im just against prejudicial preferences for the modern academic canon).
