Reported from the dreading Kevin Acee, but this isn't about Acee. Who wouldn't want Luis Arráez to get the batting title? This man loves baseball. He belongs in baseball lore.

The Padres clearly are choosing health and readiness. Having clinched a playoff berth Friday, that is not only their prerogative, it is prudent.

That prudence all meant Arraez’s batting average stayed at .314, four points ahead of the Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani, who went 2-for-5 yesterday.

Arraez, who is standing between Ohtani and the first Triple Crown since Miguel Cabrera won it in the American League in 2012, said he will start Sunday. Padres manager Mike Shildt also said that is the expectation.

Ohtani has 54 home runs and 130 RBIs, far more than anyone else. Those two categories and average make up the Triple Crown, and Cabrera is the only player in the past 56 seasons to have led his league in them.

“Ohtani can do a lot of things,” Arraez said. “... I'm just here to try to do the little things to help the team win.”

The batting title is important to Arraez. It would be his third in three years, and he would become the first player to ever win one with three different teams.

A picture of Arráez walking with his daughter at the all star game. They are holding hands. You can see their backs as they walk through a crowd. Look, I am not big on the entire "girl dad" thing, but Luis seems like a great dad.

Poucas pessoas no Brasil curtem beisebol.. Então não estão acompanhando o fenômeno Shohei Othani. Japonês foi o primeiro na história da Mlb com 50 home runs e 50 roubos de base na temporada. Talvez seja o atleta mais profissional na história do beisebol. Completo, rebate e arremessa. Monstro

So the hater's take on Shohei is that he's capable of all these great fears because he's a DH/not pitching? Like he's not as tired as everybody else? I'm pretty tired myself but I'm glad he's on my team lol
