They charge based on the cost of paying a devops person to setup and maintain lower level services. Sure it’s a lot of money per kb of traffic but you’re forgetting the years and tremendous cost of knowing how to use and maintain the low level stuff. We forget how costly our learning.

New unpopular opinion (devops-related): Python apps in containers do not need venv. You're already in a container. This is what containers are for. (yes, there are certain use-cases; but generally, it just over-complicates things).
