Let's also Oscar-nominate Helen Rose for Anne's costumes (the great Walter Plunkett is credited with the rest) and note that this epic science fiction fantasy manages to get its job done in under 100 minutes.

A rare attempt to read non-fiction for me. Usually I lack the concentration for anything serious, so I’m quite proud of how much of this I’ve read in the last week! It helps that it’s on a subject I’m already quite invested in.

E Lily Yu, some annoying Christian short fiction writer.

I often find very fast-paced books to be tiring. Even find Dan Brown exhausting sometimes. Surely there's a market for mellow fiction?! (Asking for a friend.) 😉

Potentially in the market to read a lot of books in the next few weeks- very open to suggestions of things people have recently (non-fiction especially)

If you enjoy TOS then definitely check it out. It's fun! A bit thrown-together, the animation is limited, & it was a Saturday morning cartoon, so it's kinda aimed at kids. But they do take advantage of the freedom of the medium re aliens etc & (mostly) have real science fiction plots.

Yes. It’s really drawing me in. It’s historical fiction set in Sri Lanka through the 80s and the civil war. Told from the perspective of a girl / young woman. It’s very well written.

It’s so sad and ironic when people who work in the world of speculative fiction, who imagine impossible worlds for their jobs, can’t imagine that sex and gender are mutable, a thing that is possible in this world.
