Because of a decade of hot take inflation, “Southerners deserve hurricanes because they vote for the GOP” barely registers anymore. Show me someone who is willing to stand by “the Global South’s dramatic rise in energy use and industrialization means they’re asking for it” and then we can talk.

It'll be interesting to see who Florida elects this time around. They may be stuck with Deity DeSantis until 26, but there's lots of other "don't say Climate Change" GOP on the Ballot in Nov. Are people in Florida rethinking climate at all this time or is it really too late to really help them?

It's fascinating that we hear over and over (from centrists, often) how conservative the USA is. Naturally conservative! But when many citizens know more about what the right stands for, they often disike it. GOP gets votes because of how they make them feel, not what they want society to be like.

"We're arresting more people than we can prosecute and deport bc the GOP won't fund judges" isn't very crunchy. But it beats "We're just as tough on the immigrant invaders as the psychos with guns party... and btw please stop calling them animals."

I hope so!! There are so many important things to be done that we simply will never get done as long as republicans have the power to obstruct. It is long past time for the GOP to be replaced in our politics with a political party (or more than one) that supports democracy & cares about our planet!

Imagine a scenario whereby the Dem presidential nominee had won the popular vote only once since 2000 but had still won the presidency three times. Today's roles would be reversed: GOP would be calling for the abolition of the EC, with Dems defending it.
