Love how any high profiled person going “against the grain” is almost always just a boilerplate fascist with a modicum of charisma and knowledge of what a thesaurus might be.

#Dinner tonight isn't Chinese takeout. It's homemade Kung Pao chicken! I roasted some 5-spice seasoned broccoli and served this with some short-grain rice. I also felt a little fancy so I cut some green onion stems into "grass" and then drizzled on Fly By Jing's Zhong Sauce with chili crisps!

A rice bowl of Kung Pao chicken with a side of roasted broccoli.

(Possobly the same for like Lapland and folks on the same equatorial line up in the permafrost.) I think it feels comforting to humans to eat a packet of grain, veg and protein (dairy optional), soothing because you can hold everything you need in your hand. Also deliciousness.

Resolution Recipe 69: Italian Sausage Tortellini Soup! You know what, I didn’t love this one. I don’t think it cooked long enough for the tomatoes to mellow out or celery to fully soften. Take this with a grain of salt - I don’t like much when I am sick, not even my beloved coffee. The recipe is👇 🍽️🍴

Basically every culture has some kind of carb-wrapped thing - the rice of a sushi roll is that, even though the seaweed holds the shape. Like music and language it seems to just be a thing we do when we have the ingredients. The only people I can think of are the Inuit, for lack of rice/grain.

I have a daughter. I will probably end up charged with assault if this ever happens near me. I just cannot fathom people going against the grain like this, to go out of your way to actively harm kids.

For you Chicago White Sox fans out there, the team posted this on its socials. Pretty sure Tony La Russa is still a senior advisor so take it with a grain of salt

A long letter from the White Sox owner promising things will get better
