Liraglutide activates key brain circuits to trigger weight loss in obesity 🔬🧠💊 www.news-medical.net/news/2024092...#obesity#weightloss#GLP1#brainhealth#neuroscience#pharmacology#diabetes#appetitesuppression#liraglutide#science
Researchers uncover how liraglutide targets specific brain regions to suppress appetite and promote significant weight loss through GLP-1 receptor activation.
Semaglutide specifically has been approved for 7 years. The older GLP-1 agonists have been approved for up to two decades though.
One last thing is that liraglutide (victosa) is going to generic this year. It’s not quite as effective as semaglutide in trials, but still a generic version will help with production bottle necks, give some options, etc.
There is quite a substantial history of use of GLP-1 Agonists, Liraglutide and Dulaglutide before Semaglutide. The side effect profile is quite well known and they are safe and effective. This isn't Phen-fen.
Fun fact, there was actually a GLP1 analogue used to treat diabetes before liraglutide--it was called Exenatide and it came from a toxin found in the saliva of the gila monster! www.nhm.ac.uk/discover/the...
The Gila monster's bite is agonising, but humans have been using this lizard's venom to save lives.
Interesting article on the invention of liraglutide, but biggest 🤯 for me - laundry detergent works by... dissolving the cotton?! Effective, sure, but... pubs.acs.org/doi/full/10....
Weight loss drug liraglutide shows promise for younger children with obesity, study finds
Children who used the weight loss drug liraglutide in a late-stage trial lost significantly more weight than children who got a placebo, according to a new study.
big pharma heeft nog nooit een studie betaald die aan moet tonen dat medicijnen veilig zijn voor transen simpelweg omdat transen een te kleine doelgroep zijn om bijzonder winstgevend te zijn. deze studie is wel betaald door big pharma
The change in %TBWL from baseline to 56-weeks was -8.8% (8.5, -29.2–9.7) and 1.1% (3.5, -7.9–5.99) in the #liraglutidewww.soard.org/article/S155...
Bariatric surgery, such as Roux-en-Y gastric-bypass(RYGB) remains the gold standard for treating obesity. Most people regain weight from post-surgery nadir.
