Did you learn that, originally, they were very dense and served as the first course? To fill you up so that you ate less meat, the expensive part of the meal. My mum made the dense type, which we'd split open and fill with jam. Served with custard for pudding.
It’s a situation that sucks big time. My mum is in care and she has no idea who I am now and she cusses and spits at me when I go visit. Not trying to compete with you just to explain I empathise totally with what you are dealing with.

so uninspiring seeing it and knowing every field all over. hope it gets better for you! am lucky to get by living w/mum agreed i rec not working to all who can (think should be nationwide/global strikes/resignations over so many things but can only dream lol) though i want to work on my own terms!

I stole one of my nan's poems for a Lord Mayor's competition in the early 90s. It won and is still on display in the town hall. She never said a word. She's left me the fucking poem in her will and I had to explain why to my mum.
My cousin sends mum a belated birthday card for her 99th. Barely a mention of mum, just 'news' about babies from family members that I couldn't tell from Adam. I have nothing in common with 90% of my family. They think I'm weird (yes, I am). Friends are my family.
