how can anyone not like the Dolphin from SeaQuest DSV fun fact, I'm showing my age but it took me a LONG time to be able to hear the naturalist Darwin's name without thinking of the dolphin Darwin, who I heard of first and adored.

This reminds me of the story John Acorn (Canadian naturalist and bigfoot hunter) used to tell about a friend he went camping with who was desperately constipated ... only to find out that things were blocked by an engorged tick on his sphincter.

Happy Friday! Here's some more goodies from the naturalist collections of Leiden's Asian Library (without my silly commentary ๐Ÿ˜‰). This is a series of (rather large!) illustrations of antlers and bones that were apparently found in a ditch in Kลzuke (Gunma today) in 1797. #AsiaLibLeiden

๐Ÿคฉ If you of your kids are into spiders, these new Royal Mail stamps beautifully illustrated by the master naturalist & artist Richard Lewington show off some of our finest British arachnids. Iโ€™ve added some brief info about each one. We have around 650 spider species here. Whatโ€™s your favourite? ๐Ÿงต

In his fascinating volume about John James Audubon, world-renowned naturalist-writer-illustrator Kenn Kaufman pays homage to the artist but meticulously dissects the man. #SEJournalBookShelfwww.sej.org/publications...
