Something I noticed at the gym yesterday that bothered me was the disparity of income in the parking lot. My partner pulled up in their 2025 Toyota next to: Alfa Romeros/Porsches/BMWs/Mercedes/some kind of luxury sportscar Meanwhile a Kia and a Tesla parked next to us in the brokey section.
The charred hulk of the ex-sportscar was towed away overnight. Now its erstwhile owner is desultorily standing over the blackened spot in front of his place, snapping pix and toeing the ground. It was probably the thing he cared for most in the world. I feel weirdly aghast for him, but also 🤷♀️.
