Apologies for being a day late to #WorldWhaleDaywww.livescience.com/55189-how-mu...

An overhead view of a blue whale in very blue water, releasing a very bright yellow-and-green stream of poop. A caption reads: "Photo: The blue whale can excrete up to 200 litres at a time, which apparently smells like dog poo (Source: Ian Weisse)"

I don't often get to actively celebrate #worldwhaleday but last week I was at @GeorgiaSouthern giving a Darwin Day talk & had a chance to see the stunning Georgiacetus fossils! Snapped these photos on Darwin's 215th birthday—Darwin would've loved a whale with legs & toes! 🐳

#worldwhaleday I can't think of a better worldwide fossil whale group than the eomysticetids - originally named from right here in South Carolina, they've been found in the PNW, Japan, Europe, and of course - examples like Waharoa ruwhenua from the Oligocene of New Zealand!

It’s world whale day! Celebrate with the most majestic whale of them all… the Bolarian Skywhale. www.cascadecrisis.com#miniaturepainting#worldwhaleday

The majestic Bolarian Skywhale. Digital sculpts and the printed/fully painted miniature.

Some whale prints for #WorldWhaleDay! I’ve had the great privilege of seeing humpbacks & orcas when working at sea. They seem as curious about us as we are of them. I would love to see the blue whale & narwhals, in my other prints, too. I hope we always live in a world where whales can thrive. 🐡🧪

This lino block print of a humpback whale is printed in white and grey ink on lovely handmade paper in a deep blue. The paper has a little texture and there is a little white “chatter” (carving marks) around the whale.
My linocut orca whale is leaping out of the water leaving a trail of splashed droplets of water from the sea surface. It’s printed in black on white paper.
My blue whale linocut shows the spotted diving whale in blue-grey on patterned Japanese washi paper in pale blue with a sliver wave pattern.
My linocut shows a collection of narwhal under water, printed in silver grey on white paper. There are two large whales viewed from the side crossed like an x with their horns up, and smaller narwhal going down and into the page (two in profile and one from behind).
