Over on Mastodon it was suggested that "leuchtmarker" might a compromise. Still a valid German translation for highlighter (pen), but perhaps less weird and more pronounceable. What do you think? :-)

Question to the hive mind: in 2024 is there still no service where you can paste a #IIIF URL, make annotations, and get a manifest back (derived copy of the original, but with annotations)?

I seriously consider renaming our new JavaScript text annotation library (now creatively named "Text Annotator") to... leuchtstift.js. Too weird?
