Political leaders almost never get credit for preventing problems. It’s not the best incentive.
Just to be clear, SCOTX is not only incorrect in saying that Dr. Karsan has not asserted that Kate Cox has a life-threatening condition, they incorrectly characterize Dr. Karsan’s statement of belief. They repeatedly say that Dr. Karsan says only that she has a “good faith belief.”
My challenge to myself: let go of Being Right on the Internet™️, and persuade not only with facts and reason but also with kindness and sincere goodwill. I have to value changing minds and hearts (maybe my own too) more than scoring debate points or gratifying my ego.

Our carceral system works by using the worst people — Chauvin, Dahmer, and other outliers — to induce us to accept and even applaud inhuman conditions involving assault, rape, grotesque neglect, and deliberate abuse. It’s not a strategy that would work on a healthy or decent society.

Treasure hunt successful! It was just the right degree of difficulty, and we managed to rickroll them in the process before they finally reached their prize.
I’m looking forward to having our two oldest home from college for Thanksgiving. Those of us at home have decided to assemble a treasure hunt for them to do together. It’s the sort of treasure hunt where one clue leads to the next until they end at the final prize. Should be fun!
