NEW on Wonkhe: The number one way to accommodate disabled students is by giving them extra time - but it's increasingly time they don't have. Jim Dickinson runs the numbers and assesses the impacts https://buff.ly/3TPSl9t

Finally my ripe banana attracted a butterfly! This is an unusual view of a red admiral - I love the spot of blue on the underwing

Dear new arrivals, here are a couple tips when it comes to posting photos. Be clear if the photo you're posting is yours. If it's not yours and you don't have permission or it's not creative commons/open license, don't post it, especially without credit. Add alt text to make it more accessible.

What I neglected to mention when posting this is that the map comes from the magnificent and addictive Migration Atlas. Each line an actual journey made by an actual bird. migrationatlas.org

I’m so sorry. The amount of human potential foreclosed by these illnesses is devastating, and the public is completely in the dark about how common they are. In the US, ME/CFS affects about 3x as many people as MS, and on average is more debilitating, yet most people don’t even know what it is.

A chart showing Health-Related Quality of Life by Mean of EQ-5D 3L scores. On a scale of 0 to 1, the Population average is 0.85, sclerosis is 0.67, and ME/CFS is 0.47.

Other diseases with higher scores (ranging from 0.79 to 0.62) include, in descending order:
Prostate cancer
Sleep apnea
Breast cancer
Inguinal hernia
Heart AMI
Abdominal hernia
Diabetes I
Colon cancer
Heart angina
Heart IS
Diabetes II
Stroke
Lung cancer
Rheumatoid arthritis
Chronic renal failure
Schizophrenia
COPD
Bleeding ulcer
Depression
