The transition is not without challenges. Costs could burden businesses and individuals unequally; job displacement concerns must be addressed, and economic aspects across all regions must be balanced. In short, NZE policies must ensure they contribute to a just transition.

The path forward starts with a bold commitment to innovation and investment in NZE technologies. -> Double down on deploying renewable energy, heat pumps, and EVs -> Accelerate development in storage, H2, and CCUS -> Incentivize sustainable practices and investments in clean technologies

Switzerland stands to benefit from bolder policies: 1-Improve its energy security. Swiss import ~70% of their energy. 2-At moderate costs. Research estimates that NZE by 2050 requires 300-1,400 CHF/yr/person. 3-And mitigate climate change. Temperatures in Switzerland have already increased by 2.5C.

The US is transforming its economy with the IRA; the EU works on a NZIA. How will the Swiss keep pace? I wrote an op-ed encouraging CH to act on the opportunities of the transition to net-zero emissions. Thread👇https://ethambassadors.ethz.ch/2023/11/30/switzerland-time-for-the-net-zero-economy/

PSA for EnergySky newbies: for your post to show up on the EnergySky feed, you must include ‘energysky’ or ‘🔌💡’ in the post. Please reskeet for visibility as I’m seeing a lot of questions about this floating around!
