Does anyone remember why they were specifically 88x31?
IMHO the biggest thing we need to do as progressives is find better ways to wrest some control of the messaging away from billionaires. Even under the Reagan administration the GOP was much more neutral on immigration, the fact that we are collectively not is a deliberate propaganda strategy IMHO.
The biggest issue the Democratic party faces in general is the fact that most major news media is owned by folks who would be just as happy to live under a GOP-forever regime if the Democrats aren't equally positive on pro-big-business issues (like punishing immigrants to keep wages down)
As though we needed more proof that the actual fundamental use case of generative AI is "rich people hate artists and writers, and will only work with them when strictly necessary, but would rather eliminate their entire profession as worthless".
While I agree with this, I truly believe it's only half the problem, because I also believe a lot of Americans believe in their bones that nothing truly good (or at least better than their present circumstance) could ever happen to them, either, and so their choices don't matter.
Honestly, still kind of gobsmacked that anybody believes the ongoing Republican lie about them being generally better for the economy, let alone the idea that Trump might specifically be better.
You should hit him with "hey, if the current rules that you think aren't strict enough were enforced back when your ancestors came over, would you be here?" Anti-immigration bigots LOVE that one, especially ones who were from the dirty countries with the weird religion (like the Slavs).
