Yeah there would still have to be premiums for living in higher risk places but it would be more egalitarian than just shifting all the costs to the taxpayers (who are mostly paying for private insurance themselves) the way we do now

There's an entire well-funded, in-broad-daylight industry devoted to harassing and stalking and ruining the careers of college professors and most of our media just look and go "no there's not"

My heart goes out to the Warren Wilson community. That college is a gem, and it had already been dealing with significant challenges even before the floods.

Just 1 window into #Helene devastation, by no means worst (watching videos of people on rooftops w/in inches flood, entire houses floating away) but touches home as an academic: Warren Wilson College in Swananoa, NC w/ students, faculty staff trapped on campus no running water, dwindling provisions.

so last night my hand slipped and I wrote a flash story inspired by the “ace and aro” panel I was on in #FlightsOfFoundry where I was like ‘what if a romcom type time loop story but the MC is ace and has to figure that out to break the loop’ and WELP GUESS I JUST WROTE IT. 😅
