I reposted with “caught on fire” rather than “exploded” because some folks are referring to it as an explosion (and I’m seeing folks saying the same building exploded almost two decades ago), and others are just saying it’s a fire right now.
Racial dehumanization is more complicated than most white folks are led to believe, and believing someone is always wrong or right simply due to the color of their skin is ridiculous. In many cases, I’d say the former is textbook fascism, and the latter is textbook neoliberalism.
And to be clearest, no, I’m not saying that to believe Harris is above criticism is “reverse racism” because, obviously that doesn’t exist. What I am saying is that often white folk’s gut reaction when first unlearning racisms is to overcompensate that Black folks are infallible.
If you disregard this, as if it’s consequentless, you’re ignoring the very real lengths this system goes to reinforce itself, and the perverse harm that humans as media demand that historically and intentionally targeted groups are inflicted, and betray each other, with to “win”.
It’s neoliberalism through and through. One reason neo- is at the front is because folks who come from, often multiple, disenfranchised groups, assimilate / assume positions of power only to reinforce dehumanizing logics / actions, disproportionately harming these exact groups.
Inevitably, besides observation, we learn both through trial and error. And the error is often painful, and generally, unkind.
I’m truly beyond words. The devastation on this planet from this way of life is everywhere. Anyone who denies that is purely ignorant or just plain evil.
Obviously, the message she was saying otherwise is the right one. That’s not what my critique of her language usage is about. Everyone should see that. I was critiquing her language usage, which is what others clearly took for granted.
The irony is that I had to literally act like I wasn’t talking about it because of the dense censorship on TikTok as well, when I talk about literally anything of substance to our day-to-day lives because I have been so deeply shadowbanned since at least the strikes last year.
