Interesting. The possibility had never occurred to me. Could be that hooded and carrion crows are related sub-species - in which case fertile offspring might be possible. Mammals, birds, fish and amphibian can all produce inter-species hybrids (mules) but these are usually infertile.
I'd never considered Corvid hybrids. Or do you mean hooded x non-hooded crows rather than crows x rooks for example?

That's quit common - one to one, the magpie wins but crows fight in mobs, so magpies normally decide that discretion is the better part...
They do? I've never seen one in the UK!
