the flooding devastated many communities, and many of these areas were already high poverty. they're still in the process of trying to found out how they even need help, but we can get a head start with helping them out

having fun isn't hard...all you need to do is support your local library! don't be intimidated—here are some simple steps that you can take! (1/2) #libcomix

First page of a comic. Text reads: How to help your library! A quick guide. A cartoon book with glasses is smiling in the middle of the text.
Comic page 2. Text reads: Libraries are under attack. Both public and school libraries. Number of book challenges 2021-2023. Bar graph showing the numbers: 2021 - 1,858, 2022 - 2,571, 2023 - 4,240. book challenges are at an all-time high, and 47% of challenges are for books featuring bipoc or lgbtq+ stories (OIF, 2023). Office of Intellectual Freedom. (2023,
March 20). ALA. https://www.ala.org/
bbooks/book-ban-data
Comic page 3. Text in word bubbles that reads: "These are just the reported numbers. the real numbers are likely much larger, and that doesn’t even include soft censorship!*" Concerned cartoon drawing of a book. *when librarians move or don’t buy books for fear of community outcry. Speech bubbles that says, "Book challenges are happening everywhere!" Above the cartoon book that's standing on a map of the US.
Come page 4. Text in box: "These challenges don’t stop at books. Librarians themselves have been caught in the crossfire." Text in speech bubble spoken by concerned cartoon book: "librarians and directors have been fired for refusing to ban books." Text in black box: "So you might find yourself wondering..." Text in speech bubble spoken by pleading cartoon book: "How can I help?"
