Oh yeah, it’s massive container ships. Maersk, Evergreen etc. I used to run export ops for Frito, we send these containers loaded with junk food but can only bid on empty units that have been emptied stateside. It’s not like they unload then fill it for the return trip, too bad.

Looks like they use soybean oil while stateside it’s canola/soybean/sunflower blend, that’s definitely going to taste different.

I guess if it’s selling they’re going to price accordingly but I can’t help but think if Frito dropped the price and imported larger quantities they’d make their profit.

People get a little tunnel vision with New Haven but it really is pie heaven. Frank Pepe, Sally’s and Modern Apizza are pizza mecca but there’s so many choices. Really great food truck scene too, worth the drive.

Saving these to share but I’ll be taking a careful look to see what they do differently. Highly doubt they import American potatoes which makes a huge difference. I’m guessing prices are more reasonable on the west coast but this place is really milking the novelty markup.
