When I was in law school the 1L professors decided we all had to learn poker, so we students had to set up a game. Everyone dutifully bought in $20 except one asshole who bought $100 and maxed out every bet. He obviously eventually won and it was like, oh, this WAS the lesson they wanted to teach.

But negotiations aren’t “as close as they are.” They are 1,000 miles apart. You can blame who you want but I would happily bet my children’s home against $1.50 that no ceasefire will be agreed to in the next 6 months regardless of whether someone says something stupid at the DNC.
I’m generally the type of boring guy they’re playing to with this convention (other than having a Bluesky account) and the Gaza war stuff was the least impressive of the week. The horrors that she acknowledged aren’t natural events. Maybe address the cause?
But if Biden were nominee Uncommitted would have justifiably asked for actual policy changes, not merely the somewhat symbolic measures they were asking from a presidential hopeful.
I don’t disagree but it’s also so saddening that the goal was to successfully sidestep this problem instead of address it.
