I'm taking part in the Winter Gull Survey with my 13 yr old grandson, and (weather permitting) we're planning to survey his local roost this weekend. Getting involved has been great for improving our gull ID skills! Have a look 👇 #UKBirding#WinterGullSurvey#birds#ornithology 🪶

Ants are not ideal pollinators, as they don't move as efficiently among plants as do flying insects. But they are capabable of picking up and moving at least some pollen, as demonstrated by this Formica incerta field ant on Queen Anne's Lace. Townsend, Tennessee.

Close-up photograph of a shiny, leggy orange ant in oblique face view with its head in a cluster of small white flowers, lightly dusted in whitish pollen.
