It amazes me how many people will pick up a book clearly defined as fantasy romance and expect it to be an action book. Those are two totally different genres.
When Em does something kind, she sees the person who doomed her people by doing just that. When Maria sees Em do something kind, she just sees…her. 💙
I enjoy Em’s point-of-view because we’re both autistic, so we think similarly. But something I enjoy about Maria’s POV is that we finally get to see Em for who she is & not who she thinks she is. Em sees herself through the lens of guilt & trauma, whereas Maria sees her clearly.
I hope y’all are ready for the menstrual joke in this one. 😅
I want to be active on social media so badly, but my blood count is yet again so low that I can’t put two thoughts together.
Even after as many words as I’ve cut, Goddess of the Sea is still LONG, and to be totally honest, that makes me nervous. Don’t get me wrong. It’s still easily within the lines of any typical high fantasy, but it’s longer than the first book. And as always, my anxiety is…HIGH.
My deleted scenes document for Goddess of the Sea has now reached one hundred thousand words. Granted, a lot of those are duplicate scenes that I wrote in multiple points of view and in multiple ways to see which one worked best, but still…it’s a lot. 😅
Yesterday was my last panel of the week and my first public reading from Goddess of the Sea. 💙 I also got to meet the amazing Lindsey Dorcus! 💙 I can’t overstate how wonderful this community of sapphic readers and writers is. Every day, every year, I’m amazed. 💙
