If nothing else, MNS is the only filmmaker who ever surprised me 30 minutes into a movie that it was a superhero origin story. That’s rad.

I’ve mulled over this after watching Thanks I Hate It. Is it along the same lines as the annoying post-WICKED, post-MCU trend to disallow villains from being straightforward assholes who simply enjoy being assholes because it’s their whole entire jam?

Might be an artifact of shows being adapted from manga that was originally published in like 20-page installments? Like, to catch up readers who missed a week of JUMP or whatever. It’d be way less annoying to skim quickly than to hear at the speed of normal speech.
