Women supposedly need men to protect us from starvation. But women have always farmed and woven and brewed. And if societies that lost large numbers of men to warfare were more likely to starve than those that didn’t, I’m not aware of it. cathyreisenwitz.substack.com/p/what-is-th...

I recently asked y’all whether masculinity has any purpose that doesn’t ultimately rest on reifying a gender hierarchy.

Why do we need masculinity at all? And why would we need it any more than we need new or old visions of femininity? Is there any coherent, differentiated conception of masculinity that does not rest on and reify a gender hierarchy? cathyreisenwitz.substack.com/p/whats-the-...

If a state contains enough families who cannot afford a basic necessity that the legislature must pass a bill to provide it to them on the state’s dime, then maybe the fundamental problem to solve is that too many of that state’s families literally cannot afford to live.

That’s not to say that Republicans are dumb (though they are, on average, less educated than Democrats). There’s a certain brilliance, actually, to choosing to simply not think about questions whose answers might make it harder for you to win. cathyreisenwitz.substack.com/p/top-level-...

It must be nice to be able to just decide the rule of law no longer matters and that, at least when they convict your guy, the country’s courts and judges are hopelessly corrupt. I suppose a certain level of cognition is required for one to experience cognitive dissonance.
