Another thing is that Russia gets much better bang for its buck spending money abroad. A big part of that being that you can't spend money in Russia without most of it being lost to corruption.

Possibly because the Poles & the Czechs had to "stand on their own 2 feet"? East Germans ended up having a lot of their identity "ended" when they joined & became part of "West" Germany - leading to Ostalgie etc.
