Samuel Johnson said that the power of a writer is that they 'make the new familiar and the familiar new'. So #writingcommunity I'd love to know what you make new and what you make familiar in your stories.
Books about places you know well: do you recognise the version painted by the travel writer? Just finished this book on Cumbriaโloved it! A real, unfiltered take on the Lakes, focusing on the people. A different cover might have suited it better, as lovely as this is. #AmReading
@cherryedits.bsky.social makes a plea for SFFH writers to not assume the local writing group is anti-speculative fiction!
Inspired by ed. H Bartlett (& Insta) Word not G Docs. Slight preference to Zoom over email. Fiction over nonfiction (though I need some nonfiction too). No to music, but also no to silence. Focus 'sounds' work for me. Home not cafes. Physical & Kindle TBRs + audio tbf! And you? #writingcommunity
Really great to hear from John Baker agent at the @britfantasysoc.bsky.social online Book Journey event. Hearing what his work involves is really interesting. Today's event is useful to fill in the gaps in my knowledge about the wider publishing landscape.
This was mega fun. Very much enjoyed being a part of this panel. Nice to meet you all.
Why thank you ๐ I like to get to know people, so I'm happy to share my adventures
A bit of personal worldbuilding, let's call it. Here's more about me. Warning: may include baked goods. #writingcommunityemail.cherryedits.com/emails/webvi...
