Try the neck on the mascis tele, they are all fairly thick Us. It's an unusual carve for Fender and the frets are absolutely massive. It's what sold me on it.

Postscript - if I could have found the Isbell tele used for under a grand it would be mine. The fact that virtually none are for sale secondhand probably means something
