I begin by singing the Lass of Aughrim. I end by reading the ending of "The Dead" by James Joyce and an outro of Cumbrians singing Minuit Chrétien. Two modern folklore pieces by KR Anderson, and "Why Holidays are Important" by Rev. Veronica Graves. dcplpodcast.simplecast.com/episodes/get...

So often in a pinch, I'll use the public restroom at work. But, I might stop today, after when there I am doing my thing at the urinal when a customer walks in to ask me for computer help. She's having trouble with her Roblox password.

If your sense of self-respect requires you to be sh*tty to other people, then that's not self-respect. That's just depression and anxiety.

"But what if I am better than other people?" Even if you were, why would you want to be?

The revolution isn't happening until ppl get over the call of capitalism, which is, "How are you better than other people?" which is related to "Don't you deserve more than the other?" This is also the call of the patriarchy, white supremacy, colonialism, transphobia, ableism...

Its only profit is the deadly profit of oil interests and weapon manufacturers. The world, the future, our hearts everything grows smaller and harder from from it. This is not only a war of missiles and land invasions. It is the ongoing devastation of the people of Palestine, people who have resisted throughout decades of occupation, forced dislocation, deprivation, surveillance, siege, imprisonment, and torture.
Because our status quo is self-expression, sometimes all artists have left is to refuse. So I refuse. I won't write about poetry alongside the "reasonable" tones of those who aim to acclimatize us to unreasonable suffering. No more g

My communication skills have helped in every single job I've job, even the tech ones. You can teach an English major the stuff they're writing about more easily than you can teach a bunch of engineers how to write.

Was my BA in Eng & CW useless? Depends on your standards. If you think white guys should work on K Street and make $200K or they're useless mediocre-incel-beta-scrubs, than sure. OTOH, if you talked to everyone I've helped, you might change your mind. www.nytimes.com/2023/11/15/o...
