No long ago, EU members would support the UK on matters of sovereignty, but then the Tories did FuxIt and now we have few friends that we can rely on and almost no leverage. But, ofc, someone else is always to blame for their mistakes.
I'll hasten to add: this change isn't necessarily bad news, but finding yourself diplomatically isolated certainly is. No wonder Starmer is trying to make friends in the EU.

I think he still needs lots of games. I think everyone else also needs games to get used to him, because he's effectively now the long-term tip of the Spurs spear. The more squad members get used to him, the better the team will be.
I know someone who voted leave because "I'm fed up of all those Pakistanis coming over here. They think they own the place." Pointing out that Pakistan is not in the EU made no difference. There's always another stupid argument to fall back on, culminating in "I don't care. I'm voting for stupid."
