The only stuff we add to our soil is well rotted horse manure (just had a ton delivered), and compost from our bins. We had a dozen fantastic hispi cabbages this year! And are hoping to have Brussels from the allotment on Christmas Day 😍

That would explain why my mate, who lives in the Cairngorms, has them growing wild in the pine forests around him. Being on the South Downs there’s a limit to how much soil improvement we can do here 🤣

Never had luck with blueberries, not sure if it’s the chalky soil / being very well drained that doesn’t help?

I’ve inherited a redcurrant, need to learn how to prune it to get the best out of it! There are various rasp canes on the allotment, but none of them seem to fruit much. We have had great success at home by planting quite close to each other (space constraint!), so want to scale up at allotment

Any recommendations from my grow your own chums for independent nurseries that supply soft fruit plants and either do mail order or are based in West Yorkshire? Trying to avoid TM or Suttons.
