Our studies aimed to understand which functional parameter should be primarily used in future age-related studies.
There is some work done on mainly structural parameters as you pointed out (see the intro of the manuscript), but to my knowledge, nothing on BAG based on structure+function. Having said that, there is some work out on multimodal integration to predict age as accurately as possible.
Hi Artin, thank you for your suggestion! Not sure if I understood your question correctly but will give it a try :) I think you are referring to brain age gaps (BAG) in some way, i.e. "abnormal" aging.
Many thanks to everyone who contributed and made this work happen - @eliobalestrieri.bsky.social@janafehring.bsky.social@jgross.bsky.social
Temporal autocorrelation emerged as the most robust indicator. This feature captures age-related signal changes, including periodic and aperiodic components, while also being sensitive to the regional waveform shape.
Indeed! 📝 Our latest analyses revealed that the spatial distribution of single, simple, and easily interpretable time-series features, previously not considered in aging research, were highly predictive of individual age.

Excited to share the first preprint of my postdoc! We explored a novel features space to describe M-EEG timeseries. These features are highly informative in differentiating brain states, even more than canonical features like power in predefined frequency bands! :D www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...
