...longer than 40 minutes is a feature. So, by that standard, the three-reeler MAY be a feature and the four-reeler is DEFINITELY a feature. Of course, this assumes we're talking about 1000-foot reels. If we aren't, then this really makes no sense and all life is meaningless! (2/2)

I'm dealing with a WWI-era military compilation doc, "BC for the Empire" (1916) that existed in 3-reel and 4-reel versions; no idea of the playing times. At the slow end of the potential film speeds (per Brownlow), the 3-reeler could play as long as 45-48 minutes. One source says anything... (1/2)

Saw it (amazingly) in our small-town theatre when I was a teen film buff. One of the few films I've actually walked out of. Thought Bronson was totally miscast. But hey, what do/did I know?
