Back through the forest to Respryn Bridge for some more railway shots in the evening light. Two HST only minutes apart, then only IET until sunset. #BrelephantAndCastle

Another GWR HST rushing through a curve in a green valley, seen from a slightly elevated position on the outer side. Behind, hidden by bushes, a british countryside house. Evening light, tree shadows in the foreground.
Shot from a bit further down, another IET passes. There's nearly no sunlight left.

In case you wonder: GWR is the company commissioning today's posters, of which you will have replicas in your home in 50 years. 🥰 #BrelephantAndCastle

GWR poster: Painting a IET passing a queue of cars in the countryside, inside four kids and a dog playing cards
GWR poster: «The Tamar Valley». Drawing of a class 150 crossing a viaduct
GWR poster: «Be careful, use the handrail»: Graphic of a person falling down the stairs. Green beckground.
GWR poster «Be sponTRAINeous»: Painting of an IET crossing an old bridge.

Further up the line at the lovely Bodmin Parkway station, far away from Bodmin town. The branch line to Bodmin town is now home to a  heritage railway. #BrelephantAndCastle

Rear power car of an HST under the old foot bridge. Lattice girder structure painted green, white wooden panels and windows behind it.
Shot against the light with a class 158 DMU stopping under the footbridge. Faint colours, sunlight is falling through the windows.
An old black, small diesel shunter pulls a red service carriage - which was part of some track works done by volunteers
IET curving into Bodmin Parkway, the shadows of nearby trees already reach the track. (A white, new box with signalling equipment at the left side of the image has been removed with photoshop)

An afternoon walk along the quiet valley of river Fowey, combined with some railway photography. And in the middle of nowhere, there was a booth selling coffee, tea and cakes. Perfect! #BrelephantAndCastle

A river flows through a forest and mirrors the trees
A 2x5 cars IET with its modern design sweeps through a curve in the green countryside. The back of the train is hidden by bushes.
A narrow, old stone bridge, trees at both sides
A wooden booth with a coffee machine in it

You guessed it, by 'Castle' I meant the few remaiming HST sets of Great Western Railway, also known as 'Castle Class' due to their nameplates. Only three weekday diagrams are left, mostly west of Plymouth and the rumor has it, that this could be their last summer. #BrelephantAndCastle

A GWR HST, two power cars, four intermediate coaches, all in GWR's dark green livery with a yellow front, in a curve between high lineside vegetation.

The lovely village of Lostwithiel was my base for the next days. Time to prepare with literature by @keithbarrow80.bsky.social#BrelephantAndCastle

Village street with old houses in the night, illuminated by yellow street lamp light
An IET train crosses Lostwithiel level crossing in front of the former signal box, the (nearly) full moon above it
Village street at night. Old houses, one is decorated with Cornish flags.

Great Western Railways, however, is somehow sending mixed signals. I don't feel very welcome... 😬 #BrelephantAndCastle

To the south! 5 hrs in a CrossCountry Voyager to the nearly deserted station in Plymouth, then onboard a nearly empty Great Western Railway regional service through east Cornwall at sunset. After the busy North and Midlands earlier today, this felt so peaceful. 🥰 #BrelephantAndCastle

View though the train window: The train drives along the sea, a stone wall, a sandy beach and the sea just next to the tracks.
View through the train window: The line curves away from the huge, historic steel bridge over the River Tamar
View through the train window: The line crosses a body of water which looks like a lake, but is actually a river near its estuary. Trees to both sides, sunset colours in the sky.
View through the train window: The sun sets behind soft green hills of Cornwall.

Looking for a more panoramic view a few minutes walk away. #BrelephantAndCastle

Panorama view over a hilly, green landscape with pasture, hedges and a reservoir in the background. Cloudy grey sky with a single blue spot. In the foreground, below the photographer, a double unit class 150 passing.
