The pressure ramped up because the DNC is almost over, and it will soon be too late to add a Palestinian speaker even as a last minute concession! That’s an obvious reason that doesn’t assume they somehow missed a deadline! And would you call organizers that missed a deadline competent or not?

The scenario laid out in your OP is a hypothetical that is verifiably *not true*. Since it’s not true, can you share what assumptions made you think it was even plausible?

I don’t think it’s rude to point out what the post is literally doing, intended or not. What I do think *is* rude (and condescending) is his assumption that Uncommitted, a movement that includes many Harris delegates and elected officials, was too incompetent to cross their Ts and dot their Is.

It’s been pointed out to you multiple times that the ask came much earlier than that: bsky.app/profile/dipl... The only thing of keeping this post up and uncorrected does is spread misinformation about what happened when. Delete the post or post a correction.

It doesn’t seem like an accusation made towards Bernie. It’s (correctly) pointing out that the language Bernie is using has been emptied of all content by the Biden admin, whether Bernie knows it or not. Biden and the Dems’ working definition of ceasefire is total Palestinian surrender.

Our American Israel (www.hup.harvard.edu/books/978067...) is a good book on the cultural sources of American support for Israel. It’s mainly the result of a PR blitz by Israel that got tons of people to read Exodus (novel). Uris, the author, was American, but not sure how much that helped.

considered as *really* supporting Ukraine! Saying NFP's (brave and welcome) stance should be the standard is setting the sights too low. It also leaves room for "support of Palestine" to reject Palestinian armed resistance as Hamas And Terrorism (e.g. bsky.app/profile/sfac...).

idk "it's not the same kind of war" seems like a cop-out. It's taken for granted (in the West) that "support Ukraine" = weaponry while "support Palestine" stops at diplomacy. If a country with France's resources supported Ukraine the same way they propose to support Palestine, they wouldn't be

I think this post obscures that these are not nearly the same kinds or levels of support. I don’t think the Palestinian resistance is getting shipped any French weaponry anytime soon.
