So glad to see SNL took my advice and hired Jim Gaffigan to play Tim Walz. (Didn’t see Bowen Yang coming as JD Vance or Andy Samberg as Doug Emhoff, tho.) Also kinda wish they had hired to Dana Carvey to play Joe Biden back when he was the candidate. loom.ly/hUhrNQk

Digging the sound of 1980s King Crimson, courtesy of the BEAT tour - Belew, Levin, Vai and Carey in a historic revival of legendary prog rock at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater. Perfect antidote to post-Helene blues.

I’m thinking they don’t. Or they don’t understand what a TV critic actually does…

Feeling fortunate to note that I got through Helene with no damage. Didn't even lose power. The city did shut down a sewer plant, so I can't shower, use the restroom, or use water in my home for at least two days. And my daughter's car was flooded. Grateful it wasn't worse.

Just got phone message: they shut down city’s northeast water reclamation facility. Can’t drain water; will back up sewers. Can’t flush toilets. Can’t use shower or bathtub. Can’t run dishwasher or washing machine. For 48 hours. Sigh.

So…if storm surge goes above 7 feet at northeast water reclamation facility, they will shut it down. Which means: DO NOT drain water; will back up sewers. DO NOT flush toilets. DO NOT use shower or bathtub. DO NOT run dishwasher. DO NOT use washing machine. For 48 hours. Sigh.

Joined the TV show "Story in the Public Square" to talk on how my background as a musician affects my work as media critic, why criticism of political coverage is necessary but cynicism is dangerous, impact of Trump at NABJ convention and more. WATCH: loom.ly/DyK8c0M

I have often wondered if one way to shut down misinformation would be through big judgements in court. This story, which suggests Alex Jones' Infowars platform will be shut down and sold to satisfy a $1.5 billion judgement, points the way: loom.ly/5-_Tq0k

While researching an upcoming story, stumbled on bit from Samantha Bee's lamented TBS show Full Frontal, where I talked on the possibility of an October Surprise ands covering Trump in the 2020 election. Feels quaint in the time before pet eating myths and Black Nazis. loom.ly/NrbnFuA
