The Far-right option in Austria has traditionally carried about 20-25% of the popular vote. What's changed is that the mainstream parties have failed to campaign to win; only to scrape by. The tendency to wait for a charismatic figure to emerge (like Kurz) remains in place. 😑

Wow, even 20-25% is alarming. All it took was a global coordinated far right movement that we're seeing in multiple countries to boost the percentages. U.S. is barely holding back the floodgates..

I remember seeing a poll of Austrians, & 25% said there were too many Jews in Austria, vastly overestimating true figure of 10,000 out of a total population of 9 million. Overlap with those who want to 're-migrate' non-white/Christian citizens, with no push back from mainstream Right politicians.
