I just finished Kazuo Ishiguro's Never Let Me Go & it had me in bits. Both Remains of the Day & An Artist of the Floating World had a similar emotional effect on me, so I tend to only pick up one of his books every few years. I don't know another living writer who explores loneliness so poignantly.
