Steve was discharged from hospital with a rehabilitation package but no care support. Iāve been a civil servant for nearly 30 years and I was not given a single day in special leave. I worked from home ft whilst caring for someone seriously ill and it broke me. Our attitude to care is appalling.
Women are expected to care for free; untrained and unsupported. Itās because they are naturally inclined to want to shoulder this burden joyfully, for the good of society. (Insert your own ^sarcastrophes^)
"Ā£81.90 per week. This is supposed to cover 35 or more hours looking after her per week. Thatās Ā£2.34 per hour, and 133 hours without reimbursement." It's little more than slave labour. It's criminal.
This graph is astonishing. The people that bang on about ānatural birthā and āwomen have been doing this forever without helpā need to be forced to stare at this until their eyes water.

A sombre insight into the exhausting and lonely daily reality of looking after a parent suffering from dementia
I had long hair at the time but that didnāt last. Waiting to see if the nits and vomits travelled around the family was awful, together with the laundry.
Iāve only just been able to rotate but Iām trying a new brand of FFP3 so have been airing these ones first as I think I reacted mildly straight out of the packet and canāt afford to ditch them.
I still remember one awful 24 hrs of the vomits from child 2 only to look at child 1 and see his hair moving.
And regular nits.
