Packing for Baltimore. I'm full up on seafood recommendations but would love ideas for other types of restaurants plus offbeat things to do/see. (Already planning to hit the Matisse's at BMA, the Poe house, and an Orioles game.) Thanks!
Censorship of ... facts.
unbelievable. a right-wing donor and member of the board of visitors has basically pressured UVA into suspending the University Guide Service, a highly-regarded student org that runs tours, because it tells prospective students and their parents that Jefferson was a slaveholder.
The Guide Service is a student-run organization on Grounds that gave admissions and historical tours to prospective students, families and visitors.
My daughter just finished the same degree, and it was such a pleasure to view from afar. So glad your son's first teaching experience went well!
Finished a manuscript two days ago, didn't let myself write yesterday, couldn't stop myself today. I'm writing a novel I set down two years ago AND a new one, while also thinking about minor-character spin-offs of the one I just sent to an agent with crossed fingers. In other words: I'm a hot mess.
The gross thing happening on my campus is being done by a student organization with ~18 members (apparently all but 4 of them anonymous) out of overwhelmingly wonderful student body of tens of thousands. And, yes, those 18 are juvenile ... and weird. And, yes, I'm glad I'm on sabbatical.
