They do. I'm constantly having to balance just how fluid I feel comfortable looking in academic spaces. I start planning my conference outfits months in advance because of the anxiety
I'm so thankful that this writing is out in the world. I think it will help many navigate the winding, weird waves of "community." That underexamined, powerful, awful, wonderful term; that weighty concept and embodied reality; that necessary force for good; that causer of harm and healing.
How I wish this had been published while I was still writing my diss- and how it will buoy my current writing project! And oh gods, how it was salved and quieted the truly crushing activism-crisis I've been experiencing lately.
